Wow, this was a fantastic read Andrew, and you really had quite a weekend here.

"Given its age, the Virginia has been maintained fairly nicely, although there is apparently plenty of ongoing restoration. The facade of the building is especially gorgeous, with classy touches like the painted relief sculptures above the second-story windows."

We have a movie palace near us in Jersey City that bears similarities to the Virginia, and in fact I was there Friday night for a screening of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. But this picture reminds me of the old movie house in Anarene, Texas, in Bogdonovich's THE LAST PICTURE SHOW. Like you I misted up during DEPARTURES, a film that broaches cultural disparities, and death, and I am also a huge fan of Kaufman's film and that staggering 1929 avante garde Russian masterpiece. What a diversified menu here, and kudos to you for getting here to see your beloved SYNCHEDOCHE.

This venue was to die for!
